Will it act as a driving force for integration or division? What are the lessons learned so far? How can the EU avoid the repetition of the Spitzenkandidaten Syndrome?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Secretary General Petros Fassoulas<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>European Movement International<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mr. Petros Fassoulas has been the Secretary General of European Movement International since 2015. Previously he has worked as ACCA\u2019s Head of Public Affairs Europe and as an EU Affairs Adviser at the UK\u2019s Financial Services Authority and UK Parliament.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In the Conference on the Future of Europe he is representing the civil society and European Movement International.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>15:15 | KEYNOTE: A DIVIDED NATION \u2013 FINLAND<\/strong><br>European Movement International and European Movement Finland have the pleasure to present the public opinion poll results from Listen to Europe: A Divided Nation \u2013 Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Listen to Europe is a long-term initiative aimed at helping civil society to set up targeted and informed campaigning based on data and segmentation of audiences. Towards this end, we have conducted public opinion surveys and social media monitoring that investigate drivers of the behaviours of citizens as well as the main topics and narratives present in the social media in each of eight project countries.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results of the study show a divided nation and a more fragile Nordic democracy than assumed. What must we do to preserve our democracy? How should the pro-democratic forcer address the Finnish audiences? What lessons can we learn from the surveys executed in over a dozen EU member states so far?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><\/strong><strong>Matthew MacWilliams<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><strong> <\/strong>Founder of MacWilliams Sanders Communication<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mr. Matthew MacWilliams is an author, scholar, brewer and garnered from Baltimore, Maryland. He is a long-time political professional, establishing <\/em><strong><em>MacWilliams Sanders Communication<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013 a campaign- and issue-driven media strategy firm \u2013 more than 20 years ago. MacWilliam earned his Ph.D. in political sciences from the University of Massachusetts and studied at the University of Pennsylvania for his bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>On Fascism: 12 Lessons from American History<\/em><\/strong><br><em>Early in the Republican nominating contest for president, Matthew MacWilliams warned that <\/em><strong><em>President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><em> activation of American authoritarians would make his candidacy virtually unstoppable.
